Hello, darling. Welcome to…

Dear Fiction is brought to you by author Brooke Lea Foster and takes you behind the scenes of my writing life, my books, travels, recommendations and lots more.

Meet Brooke Lea Foster

After 20 years as a magazine writer, I wrote my first historical fiction novel, Summer Darlings, in 2020, which is set in Martha’s Vineyard in 1962. I never thought I could write a novel, but then there I was, writing my second novel, On Gin Lane, during lockdown. Set in East Hampton in the summer of 1957, On Gin Lane was released in May 2022 and comes out in paperback this spring. Both novels were top summer book picks in People magazine, and my books were featured in Entertainment Weekly, Town & Country, Parade, and Travel & Leisure, among many others. My third novel comes out next summer. Woot, woot!

A longtime journalist, my writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, The Washington Post Magazine, The Baltimore Sun, Publishers Weekly, Good Housekeeping, Parents, The Atlantic, People, and Washingtonian. I’m the author of three non-fiction books, and when I’m not writing, I’m reading. I’m also an avid podcast listener, I love to dance around my kitchen while cooking (much to my children’s horror), and I love throwing sticks for my golden-doodle Luna to fetch. I always have something to say about books. Come join me in conversation!
