I am seriously going to have to stop reading your newsletter...I end up ordering too many book recs!!! I now have so many on order I am going to need to take my own beach trip to get through them all... happy holidays : )
I just finished Maame and absolutely loved it! Remarkably Bright Creatures was one of my favorite books of 2022 (and I read it on audio too – the narration was fantastic). And the other two are high on my TBR! I might do I Have Some Questions For You on audio since Julia Whelan and JD Jackson narrate.
Ooh I didn’t know that about Julia Whelan. I’m already in the thick of the hardcover or I would have downloaded it. Yay on Maame. They really nailed the cover on that one, too. Thx for reading!
Brooke, I have been woefully behind on our Substack ~*coursework*~ and have therefore been a poor literary citizen. Apologies in advance for my being remiss!
I love the idea of a vacation reading list. Oftentimes I have all the best intentions of reading on my vacations, but I usually find myself staring into space because I get to relax for a change!
Have you read ‘The Secret History’ by Donna Tartt? I wouldn’t call it a vacation book, per se, but it’s such good narrative storytelling. I used to live in New England, and the way Tartt captures the environmentality of that region is SPOT. ON.
Thanks so much for your lovely post! I’m excited to read more :)

Haha. I know. I’m the same way. I always have to cut myself off. Lol.
