Sunday Morning Surprise: Book Cover Reveal!
My paperback comes out this May -- and it has a flashy new cover!
I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy on this Sunday morning. I’ve had a great writing week (working on my fourth novel), and I’m feeling so grateful for this newsletter already. It’s so wonderful to hear from all of you and talk writing and books and I kind of feel like I’ve joined a conversation with the smartest people in the room. Or at least the most interesting.
I also wanted you to be the first to know that my second novel, On Gin Lane, has a brand new cover. Readers far and wide swooned when they saw the hardcover when it came out last May. I can’t tell you how many people asked me about the cover in interviews, commenting on the golden spine and frame, the image of the beach, a woman who is clearly longing for something more. Oh, and then there’s her stunning vintage bathing suit.
But my publisher wanted to change things up for the paperback. Publishers do this when they believe a book can sell even more copies than it did in the initial print run, and when they have some reason to believe that it may gain a wider audience with a new cover. At first, I was disappointed. I had really wanted to preserve the original golden-girl cover. Still, once they showed me a few other choices though, I quickly jumped ship to this one. See below!
The new On Gin Lane cover stars this colorful umbrella set against a vibrant blue sky. It’s a scene that I could melt right into, especially now that its winter and I’m oh-so-ready for summer.
Isn’t the new cover just so beautiful? I absolutely love my publisher for many reasons, but one of them is the design team. My cover for Summer Darlings was equally gorgeous!
I’m curious though: Which On Gin Lane cover do you like better? You will not hurt my feelings if you say the first. I absolutely love both of them.
Happy Sunday, everyone!
ps. If you’re enjoying what you’re reading here, would you be willing to help me spread the word about Dear Fiction. One way to help is to share this issue of DF, another way is to send a quick note to friends with this link telling them that they might enjoy these bookish episodes as well!

They’re both stunning! The second one doesn’t give me Gin Beach vibes though. There’s no dock like that and I’ve never seen a boat docked here. It’s certainly stunning and eye catching though!! 😍
Oh my goodness Brooke! They both deserve their time in the spotlight! I love the golden border in your hardcover but this bold red will grab a bookstore wanderers eye! And the dock that leads into the never ending water makes me want to run full speed on it and see what new adventure is awaiting! Congratulations!
