Let me know if you do! I'm so curious to see how the conversation is influenced by the men in the room. A part of me wonder if everyone, on both sides, will be a little gun shy at first since the dynamic will be so unfamiliar. ;)
Do you and your significant other ever buddy read? We have once or twice but we tend to like such different books. I did get my husband to read All the Light You Cannot See because I knew he'd love it. And we both read Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and he loved that one, too. I have an instinct about what he'll like though from knowing him for so many years. xo
We don't buddy read very often, partly because he reads a lot of nonfiction whereas I'm typically reading fiction. Mostly though, it's because he reads much slower than I do! That said, he retains way more—I forget plots a week after finishing a book.
In my former bookclub, we had a couples book once a year. I don’t remember any of the books chosen for those raucous-filled evenings, but I do remember the husbands appreciated being invited to hang-out, drink, and “discuss” with their wives! As my husband & I are getting ready to relocate and make friends all over again, I think a couples bookclub is a great idea - I’ll definitely work on it once we’re resettled.
That's so fun! I had no idea this was even a thing. In my book club, we do invite the husbands for our literary-themed holiday parties and it's been fun playing book-centric charades, etc. But I love the idea of changing up the discussion once in awhile. So fun that you've already done it!
Fun! My husband and I read some Emily St. John Mandel books together. I don't think you have to change the types of books you read but meet in the middle on what you like.
Emily St. Mandel is the perfect couples read. I feel like there's so much to discuss in her novels. I'm really leaning toward North Woods as the first pick because people seem to really love that one, regardless of gender. xo
I love this idea! I might have to try it too.

Sadly my husband doesn't read so no...
Too bad! Maybe a music club. :)))
:) Good thinking
